Is Ghana Truly Ready for a ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ Agenda? The idea of Ghana Beyond Aid is inspiring a nation that can finance its own development, create sustainable jobs, and rely on innovation rather than external support. But the real question is: how close are we to achieving it? From my perspective, Ghana has the resources, the human capital, and the potential to stand on its own economically. We have natural resources, a growing youthful population, and increasing digital innovation. However, several challenges still hold us back, such as: • Weak revenue mobilization • Overdependence on imports • Limited industrialization • Corruption and misuse of public funds • Inadequate support for entrepreneurs For Ghana to truly go beyond aid, we need consistent leadership, strong institutions, investment in local industries, and a cultural shift toward productivity and accountability. Citizens also have a role to play , supporting local products, paying taxes, and demanding transparency. Do you personally believe Ghana is moving in the right direction toward economic independence, or is ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ still more of a slogan than a strategy? Let’s discuss 👇 What practical steps do you think Ghana must take to achieve this goal?
